Class Descriptions and Schedule
Before your first class, ensure to drink a lot of water the day before and day of the class that you would like to attend. This assists in ensuring that you do not become dehydrated during class and can still enjoy the session without worrying about cramps.
Muay Thai Beginners – 1.5 hour class Kru Brian and Kru Jr:
This class is your first step as a student in absorbing all that there is to learn in Muay Thai. In these classes, though the cardio component of the class is still more than enough for even the most advanced of people, the way that the lesson plans are developped are broken down for a beginner to understand and questions about the concepts are encouraged. We normally have more advanced students in the beginner classes as well to assist you through your very first few classes…almost like your own personal tour guide! After a few weeks, you can begin to challenge yourself by joining the seasoned students in the OPEN CLASS.
Muay Thai Open – 1.5 hour class Kru Brian and Kru Jr:
Though you may not be an expert yet, once you understand the footwork and the fundamentals behind the punches, kicks, elbows and knees, it may be time to attend more of our Open classes. These classes don’t focus as much on how to use your weapons, but more so on why and when to use them. You will have more advanced students in these classes both from a technical and a cadiovascular level standpoint but do not let that sway you. BE A SPONGE and you too will get there!
Jiu Jitsu (with GI) – 1.5 hour class with Bruno Da Silva of Nova Uniao:
Though we are a Muay Thai school, Jiu Jitsu from a technical standpoint is one of our long lost cousins. The way that the hips are used and some of the holds will assist you in improving your Muay Thai and vice versa. Taught by Bruno Morais DaSilva of the Nova Uniao lineage from Brazil, our brand of Jiu Jitsu lineage comes from a long line of champions and has been instrumental in developing some of our Muay Thai fighters in improving their clinch work. You do not require a Gi for your first few classes and the instructional pace is similar
Boxing – Carlton Burnett Jr – 1 hour class:
There is more to boxing than just throwing a few different punches and using some fancy footwork to navigate around the ring. You also cannot integrate the use of hands like a boxer with the kick of a Muay Thai athlete. Shortly after this class begins but before your quick sip of water the answer “why” will be revealed to you!
S.E.T. – Strength, Endurance and Toning – 1 hour class:
This 1 hour blast has no punching, kicking or contact of any sort. Participants will learn the concepts of body weight and cardio training – a skill that you can carry with you at home or on the road. Expect to be exposed to the latest and greatest techniques in plyometric, resistance, agility, strength and cardio training. Bring and towel and expect to be pushed to your limits!
Fighter Development – 2 hour training:
This is NOT a class. This 2 hour training session has been designed to develop your skills to the level that you would be able to compete in the ring, (though not all attendees have that goal in mind). Based on the abilities that you display in class, understanding of the curriculum and attitude that you carry, the instructors will invite you to participate in this training session
Open Floor:
This is open time where classes are not scheduled where you may use the facility to train and further develop your skills. Feel free to ask the instructors who are still supervising to assist you should you have any questions.
